Anger Management Case Study There are many reasons clients seek out, or are required to utilize the services offered by human service professionals. Often times, people will seek help for one issue, only to learn there are other issues that need to be addressed if a solution is to be achieved. Woodside and McClam (2015) stated human service helpers and professionals should always approach client issues with the expectation that the client, as a â€Å"whole person†, will require assistance with more than one issue if that client is to fully realize deliverance. It is the intention of this paper, utilizing the case of 24-year old Isaiah, who has been arrested for domestic violence against his girlfriend, to assist Jane, a mental health†¦show more content†¦Second, whether he is inclined to admit it or not, Isaiah is emotionally distraught with the fact he is, not only in very bad legal trouble, but he is also facing the possible loss of the woman he loves and his job at the same time. And thir dly, Isaiah is facing both a loss of income from not only being suspended, but the potential of a total loss of employment coupled with legal fees and the cost of counseling. All of these issues mixed together, no doubt, have Isaiah in a state where counseling alone would most likely be ineffective since it is virtually impossible for Isaiah to focus on one thing alone. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs There is much research that has been done into the order in which the needs of individuals must be met if one is to achieve full understanding of one’s self. Woodside and McClam (2015) stated Abraham Maslow developed a scale, or pyramid that demonstrates how basic needs, such as housing, food, and water must be met, forming the base of the pyramid, before the individual can or will ever strive to reach higher needs and eventually self-actualization. Isaiah, in this case, must have his basic needs met before Jane will ever have success in helping Isaiah reach the level of self-actualization. Understanding that Jane is a professional in her field, she will most likely help Isaiah find shelter in a place that will be suitable for the short-term.
